This position is remote.

The Senior Compliance Specialist assists in meeting and maintaining Freedom’s reporting requirements in furtherance of the company’s regulatory compliance plan.  This position requires an individual to comprehend and adhere to federal and state banking regulations. This individual will be responsible for tracking monthly, semi-annual, annual, and quarterly reports, submitting re-certifications for governmental entities (i.e. FNMA, FHLMC, GNMA, FHA/HUD, HAMP, etc.) and creating and maintaining tracking spreadsheets and procedures. The specialist also participates in or leads process improvement activities at the direction of the Vice President, Regulatory Compliance Counsel. 

Essential Job Functions include:
  • Research the SAFE Act with a strong understanding of state and federal regulations.
  • Makes recommendations for improvement of the compliance reporting program as appropriate. 
  • Promotes highly efficient processes and systems to maintain accurate reports.
  • Contributes to the preparation of coordination of compliance related reports.
  • Interpret state and federal regulations for the purpose of complete licensing related reports
  • Track monthly, semi-annual and quarterly reports and submitting recertifications for governmental entities.
  • Create and update procedures and process flow for reporting.
  • Responsible for meeting Freedom Mortgage Corporation’s commitment to compliance.
  • Provide training, advice, and guidance

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from a Four (4) year College or University; or six (6) to eight (8) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Fundamental understanding of the following: SAFE Act, NMLS, and other applicable federal and state statutes and regulations.
 
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Strong MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and Adobe.
 
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and aggregate figures.
 
Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
 
Personal/Organizational Contacts:
Regular and substantial contact with others. Contacts usually involve discussions related to policies and programs. Handles sensitive, complex, and/or confidential information.
 
Work Complexity:
Tasks are multiple and diverse with some interrelationship across processes. Work requires the direct application of a variety of procedures, policies and/or precedents. Comfortable in fast-paced environment and able to work independently and effectively within a team, while under specific time constraints.
 
Independent Judgement/Problem Solving:
Performs duties within scope of general Company policies, procedures and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures and practices. Refers exceptions to policy and procedures to the supervisor.
