This position is remote. 
Summary

The Senior Compliance Specialist assists in the accomplishment of the regulatory compliance monitoring plan. Review loan transactions for compliance with applicable federal and state law and regulation.  Prepares reports of the results of monitoring activity and audits and presents findings to the Director, Regulatory Compliance and other personnel. Participates in or leads process improvement activities at the direction of the Director, Regulatory Compliance. 


Essential Job Functions include:

  • Accurately completes and documents assigned compliance monitoring activities.  Ensures that assigned testing activities are sufficient to meet stakeholder requirements and addresses changes in the regulatory environment as they occur.

  • Makes recommendations for improvement of the compliance monitoring program as appropriate. 

  • Promotes highly efficient processes and systems to monitor, assess, and accurately report on the effectiveness of the system of compliance controls. 

  • Contributes to the preparation of coordination of compliance related reports.

  • Assists operational areas in defining practices that would result in adherence to regulatory compliance objectives as assigned. 

  • Assists in ensuring that changes in regulatory compliance requirements are reflected in our application systems, as well as submits process improvement requests in which automation would help prevent user errors.

  • Consults on special projects as requested by the Chief Compliance Officer and other senior members of the Legal department.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree from a Four (4) year College or University; or six (6) to eight (8) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Fundamental understanding of the following: Fair Credit Reporting Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Truth in Lending Act, Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, and other applicable federal and state statutes and regulations.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Personal/Organizational Contacts:
Regular and substantial contact with others. Contacts usually involve discussions related to policies and programs. Handles sensitive, complex, and/or confidential information.

Work Complexity:
Tasks are multiple and diverse with some interrelationship across processes. Work requires the direct application of a variety of procedures, policies and/or precedents.

Independent Judgement/Problem Solving:
Performs duties within scope of general Company policies, procedures and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures and practices. Refers exceptions to policy and procedures to the supervisor.
