Summary:

The QRM Senior Analyst for Freedom Mortgage’s Capital Markets division is responsible for the daily maintenance and support of the Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) Mortgage Banking application.  The QRM MB system is used by Capital Markets to quantify and mitigate the interest rate exposure of our $14 billion mortgage pipeline.  The Sr. Analyst will be responsible for assisting the Capital Markets team with developing insights and analysis to support the hedging decisions and risk management strategy for Freedom Mortgage.   This position will engage and collaborate with the various functional teams that utilize the QRM system for trading, pooling, loan delivery, pricing and financial reporting.

 


Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs daily QRM activities to ensure system is updated and risk position reports are published on a timely basis.
  • Controls model assumptions and inputs; validates assumptions; prepares impact analysis reports when assumptions are updated.
  • Responsible for validating, testing and documenting the complex financial/statistical models within QRM and effectively communicates the results to stakeholders.
  • Maintain the existing Capital Markets reporting framework and develop new reports to support changing business needs.
  • Assists with improving mortgage-related models and processes used in risk management, forecasting and valuation.
  • Assist and support with testing and implementation of QRM system upgrades.
  • Collaborates with Capital Markets team to identify and quantify market risk exposures, perform hedge effectiveness tests, and loan pipeline valuation analysis.
  • Support pooling team with development and implementation of automated pooling rules within QRM system.
  • Proactively monitors pull-through performance and alerts management to deviations in expectations.
  • Supports Capital Markets team with ad-hoc reporting, analysis and model enhancements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, economics or equivalent preferred
  • 1-3 years financial services or related mortgage experience preferred
  • Prior experience with Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) is desirable
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel/VBA
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access
  • Ability to analyze and interpret large data sets
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced, high risk environment
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills

 

 

 

 

Mathematical Skills:

 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

 

Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions. Ability to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
