The IT Governance Policy Specialist is responsible for ensuring Freedom Mortgage Corporation's information technology objectives are well documented in all IT policies and standards. Responsibilities include authoring, coordinating and conducting policy and standard updates with policy owners and stakeholders, as well as, identifying and remediating gaps in documentation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist or lead in the development, maintenance and revision of policies and standards based upon identified control objectives and their alignment to Freedom Mortgage Corporation’s business model.
  • Communicate project status, concerns or issues to Management in a timely manner.
  • Develop business and technology team knowledge to better understand processes, metrics and required controls.
  • Partner effectively with policy owners and stakeholders through continuous and proactive communications.
  • Gather and store artifacts to prepare for audits.
  • Review control descriptions for reasonableness and accuracy.
  • Provide training and awareness on policy life cycle.
  • Identify internal control weaknesses and recommend remediation to strengthen control environment.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance. Comply with all company policies and procedures.

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English or Communications. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience writing policies, procedures and standards.
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills, including strong interpersonal management skills.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking with strong focus on detail; ability to identify root cause and proper solution.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office skills, including the use of templates.
  • Ability to multi-task while working in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience in IT, Information Security, Compliance or Data Privacy is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various IT controls frameworks, such as COBIT, ISO 27001, NIST is preferred.
