The QA Engineer II is a member of a QA team with primary responsibility for ensuring a quality product is delivered to the organization. The person will work closely with the QA Lead to define test strategy and process. This position is responsible for the design, development and execution manual and automated test cases. The position is also responsible for assisting in the creation of reporting metrics associated with the manual tests.  


Essential Job Functions:

  • Participate in design reviews to identify test strategy and scope
  • Design test cases to validate usability, functionality, and data integrity
  • Develop, execute and maintain test cases (both manual and automated test cases)
  • Isolate, report and verify software defects
  • Assist QA Leads/managers in planning/developing a test plan which includes regression testing
  • Create test scenario based on the business requirements and adherence to business requirements
  • Execute test cases in a distributed and varied environment including HTML, web services, client/server to verify software functionality
  • Review and validate that test data and test execution results accurately reflect business requirements as outlined in the requirements specifications

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

 

  • Working knowledge of Software Quality Assurance practices such as managing defects, defining test strategies/plans/cases and the difference between different types of software testing
  • Ability to analyze business and/or functional requirement documents for testing purposes
  • Experience with a test management system such as Jira, Zephyr or HP tool
  • Proficient in testing and automating REST APIs and Web Services   
  • Knowledge of test case automation in selenium
  • Experience working in an agile development environment would be helpful
  • Knowledge of Java, JavaScript, HTML, SOAP/XML, SQL is preferred
  • Ability to work harmoniously in a team environment as well as independently with minimal direction
  • Ability to prioritize work load, work effectively on several projects and concurrent tasks, and be able to meet project timelines.
  • Ability/willingness to learn quickly and handle new challenges and changes.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio etc.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to write routine reports and correspondence for internal and external customer communications


Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a Four (4) year College or University.
  • 5+ years of experience in manual testing.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policy and procedure manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
