The IT Internal Auditor is responsible for the development and execution of internal audits which includes the below essential job functions.


Essential Job Functions may include:

  • Develop and identify audit scope for auditing internal IT controls.

  • Assist with development and maintenance of the Internal Audit IT Risk Assessment.
  • Possesses familiarity with internal and external control expectations, including, COSO, SSAE16, and general IT controls
  • Able to research and analyze IT products and business processes to identify key controls and risks
  • Document a process flow/narratives of key IT activities and controls
  • Prepare Workpaper for control testing in accordance with Internal Audit methodology
  • Document testing steps to validate IT controls and risks
  • Perform audits and testing of effectiveness of controls in accordance with plan timelines.
  • Conduct special “reviews” requested from Freedom’s business leaders, as assigned.
  • Ability to interpret and assess compliance with internal or external policies and procedures, and guidelines.
  • Efficiently perform gap analysis of controls and identify any weaknesses or areas that need improvement.
  • Assist in development of an annual audit risk assessment.
  • Work with all levels of employees, executive and senior level management during reviews.
  • Conduct remediation follow up and testing.
  • Lead special projects, as needed. Summarize audit results in a clear and concise, and actionable fashion.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Responsible for properly documenting and retaining audit workpapers.
  • Ability to multitask and be extremely flexible in the workday activities.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Computer Science from four-year College or University; one (1) to three (3) years related internal audit experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, and work place policies. Ability to analyze, interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write professional correspondences. Ability to write routine business reports. Ability to speak effectively with other employees and/or customers. Ability to present formal information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees. Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, customers and/or the general public.


Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to carry out detailed written and/or verbal instructions. Ability to solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.



Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

CISA, CRISC or CISM highly preferred.
