Summary

The Construction Technician is responsible for performing all technical tasks required to coordinate and complete assigned construction projects. This position will communicate and provide status reports to the Construction Supervisor throughout the duration of each project regarding schedules, budgets, changes, quality and other facilities issues.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs handyman and general carpentry tasks including but not limited to rough and finish carpentry & trim; installation of ceilings & ceiling tile, doors, door frame & hardware, flooring, tile & base; landscaping & site work, concrete, masonry and other general repairs
  •  Assures the safety and quality for all projects; maintain a clean and safe work site.
  • Performs general demolition and refuse removal.
  • Performs painting and staining.
  • Performs HVAC, plumbing and electrical repairs and adjustments.
  • Maintains inventory of materials and tools.
  • Accepts and stores all deliveries pertaining to work.
  • Coordinates activities with other in-house staff.
  • Manages materials and equipment required for the work.

 

Other Related Duties:

Performs other related duties as assigned including but not limited to furniture, fixture, equipment and workstation assembly & disassembly, delivery, installation and removal.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job has minimal supervisory responsibilities.


Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

One year certificate from College or Technical School; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
