Position Summary:

The primary role of the Servicing Business Control Specialist is to oversee departmental and process related audits to determine risks, effectiveness of controls, compliance with requirements, and assess if performing within tolerable risk level. Additionally, the Business Control Specialist will work with the Servicing QC and the Servicing Business Units to resolve any QC exceptions and/or findings.   Must have Mortgage Servicing Experience.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Exam Management
    • Supports the execution of audit procedures including reviewing line of business artifacts and responses to ensure audit requests/responses are correct and satisfy the requests
    • Demonstrate experience and knowledge of Mortgage Servicing
  • Risk Certification
    • Conduct/perform Risk and Control Certification for all areas of Servicing.
    • Address/resolve Quality Control Findings with applicable lines of business
  • Information and Communication Perform ongoing assessment of the lines of business internal controls, to determine effectives
    • Work with Executive and senior level management during audits and assessments.
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Facilitate meeting with line of business stakeholders to discuss assessment results and provide recommendation
  • Collaborate with the LOB to address/enhance existing controls

    Maintain repositories of Control Assessments
  • Notifies Operational Risk of Assessment results for future testing
  • Reviews procedures related to risks to ensure controls and relevant process steps are captured within the procedure

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiar with a variety of mortgage banking concepts, practices and procedures. Working knowledge of compliance regulations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment recognizes and acts on changing priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must have Mortgage Servicing experience
  • Experience reviewing processes, control reports and controls statements with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to identify root cause of process gaps and/or findings
  • Must have analytical/critical thinking skills to evaluate control effectiveness
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpresonall communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
