Freedom Mortgage is seeking an enthusiastic and data driven IT professional to join the Information Management (IM) team. The primary job responsibility will be to work closely with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Engineers, Developers and leadership to create user stories and prioritize backlogs that are value-add, metric driven and contribute to the success of business initiatives.

This role will foster effective cross-team collaboration, drive testing and enable efficient delivery of product enhancement using agile methodologies with the goal of improving the overall customer and team member experiences and efficiencies.


  • Create, maintain, and prioritize an Agile team’s work backlog by assessing business and customer value
  • Collaborates with other Product Owners to manage inter-team dependencies
  • Focuses on outcomes, sets clear success criteria
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with both technical and business associates
  • Ability to work independently and be a self-starter, with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Communicating roadmap, backlog and project objectives clearly to technical and business stakeholders
  • Guiding stakeholders on their information needs for their respective processes and operations while working on new projects to facilitate the requirement gathering process
  • Managing incoming requests from projects related to assigned business areas
  • Becoming the subject matter expert on assigned business functions
  • Continuously refine the IM backlog with the Scrum team, ensuring all items are clearly described and prioritized
  • Drive sprint and release plans together with the Scrum Master and Information Management Scrum teams
  • Exercise strong decision-making mandated from leadership regarding IM products and initiatives
  • Advanced understanding of business processes, internal control risk management, IT controls and related standards
  • Ensure adherence to continuous improvement practices as required to meet quality / time to market imperatives


  • Bachelor of Science in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or appropriate combination of education and experience in essential duties and responsibilities (5+ years of Business Analysis or Product Owner Scrum Experience)
  • Has or seeking the following certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
  • Deep knowledge of multiple data related processes and technologies
  • Previous experience in Mortgage Banking, Fintech and/or associated lines of business is highly preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize initiatives, foster collaboration between departments and drive initiatives to completion through accountability
  • Experience managing backlogs, writing detailed user stories, user story refinement and having a typical ‘servant leader’ mindset.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex messages and trade-offs
  • Challenger mindset and passion to challenge status quo to find new solutions and drive out of the box ideas – loves and embraces change, Asks Why.
  • Believes in a non-hierarchical culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust across the team
