S.A.F.E. Training in the First Flyer Program with Justin S.

This week, we’re pleased to introduce you to Justin S., a First Flyer on the Sales track at Freedom Mortgage. In this article, Justin discusses his experience in undergoing Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (S.A.F.E.) training.

“S.A.F.E. training was quite the experience,” Justin said. “From day one, not knowing anything about the industry and being fresh out of college with no experience in a job of this caliber, it was nerve-wracking, to say the least. However, as time passed, my confidence and comfort level grew stronger.

“Freedom Mortgage has some of the best trainers and managers who are always willing to help! My trainer, Doug, was always extremely helpful and eager to answer questions, no matter how repetitive they became,” Justin told us. “I could text him on a Saturday while studying, and he would promptly respond! I was surrounded by amazing coworkers who were also undergoing S.A.F.E. training. It was very comforting to know that I wasn't alone.”

When asked about his experience taking the S.A.F.E. exam, Justin responded, "The S.A.F.E. exam is not an easy exam by any stretch of the imagination, but if you give it your all, you will pass with flying colors. Coming in and studying for an hour on a specific topic and then taking a quiz on it would be part of my daily routine. After that, we would take a break by going outside for some fresh air, taking a walk, and socializing with coworkers, but after our break, we would be ready for our next topic and continue learning throughout the day!”

Justin explained that his experience taking the exam was akin to a roller-coaster ride. He suggests paying attention and taking thorough notes the first week, as a lot of the information can overlap and understanding the core principles first is essential.

“This helps establish the groundwork for knowledge when mastering the other material during week two. Honestly, by the end of week two, you'll feel like you've mastered the content and could pass the test. Fortunately, Freedom Mortgage provides an extra week of review to make sure you've got it all down. It’s fantastic to have that extra time to slowly soak in all the information you've previously studied. My personal experience with the S.A.F.E. training and exam was positive! Overall, I would do it again.”
