Leadership Corner: Sherri Mallory – VP, Servicing

In Sherri Mallory’s career at Freedom Mortgage, she has had the opportunity to manage many areas within Default Servicing. Starting with Freedom in October 2012 – when the servicing platform was in its early stages – she focused on working with Freedom’s foreclosure counsel and subservicer (a qualified outsourcing partner that performs all administrative, compliance, and financial servicing activities related to a mortgage loan) to remedy the title defects of loans in foreclosure. In the subsequent years, she has managed various functions such as investor claims, default invoicing, property valuations, non-FHA property preservation, and hazard claims.

In 2019, Sherri moved to Vice President, Customer Care in the Fishers, IN office. “My responsibility was to make sure our customers have the best customer experience possible,” she told us. “That starts with hiring, training, coaching, and continually educating our team members. They are our front line, and it is worth the investment to provide them with the right tools to make that happen. I worked with my management team every day to help find ways to engage our team members and let them know how valuable they are to the organization. If we are successful, that will result in the customer being the beneficiary of all our hard work.”

Not only was Servicing a great opportunity, but the biggest reward came with the interactions and relationships built with the people. “I found that no matter what area it was, the need was always the same: recognize and engage team members and you will get great results.”

These days, Sherri continues to focus a large part of her efforts on employee engagement through which she hopes this mutual commitment between Freedom and its employees can reward results from discretionary effort and go above and beyond. “Employees who have their hearts and mind in the business will go the extra mile in loyalty and ambassadorship.
